Satellite and illustration.
The homepage hero is a rendered illustration of a yard and an accessory dwelling, with setback lines drawn on top. It is not a photograph of a specific property, and it is not Google imagery. When a city report shows an aerial photograph, the server requests 2D satellite tiles from the Google Map Tiles API and sends the image to the page without the API key. The page does not save those tiles. The band under a Google photograph shows the Google Maps logo and the copyright string from that viewport. A blank tile, a missing key, or the monthly free-tier stop uses Esri World Imagery, then Mapbox satellite, and the band names that source. If none of those load, the page says the aerial photograph is not available.
Stock photographs have been removed: a San Diego harbor, Los Angeles palms, a San Jose skyline, a Seattle skyline, a Waco house, a garden photograph, and an earlier roof texture. None of those files remain on the site.
The worked example is the City of San Diego parcel for 3539 Arnold Ave, APN 4533310900. Lot area is 6,356 sq ft on the SANDAG parcel record. Living area, effective year, and the unit count are that same record. Year built is not in that record, so the page marks it verify. The zone is RS-1-7 on the SANDAG zoning service.
